PUG DOG ENCEPHALITIS STUDY UPDATE

SUMMER, 2008

Dr. Jamie Bush was scheduled to defend her thesis on the work done at Colorado State University recently and she will be providing a summary of that project at the 2008 National Specialty show on Wednesday night. Dr. Bush's group performed MRI's on suspected PDE cases.

Dr. Kimberley Greer has been busy with her new son, a job change and a move, but says the Texas A&M project is nearing completion. She has presented her work at two national veterinary meetings this spring. The fine mapping is almost completed, and she will update us when it is done.

We continue to ask for monetary support from all Pug lovers. The current PDE project budget is over $60,000.00, which PDCA will provide half of, and our health fund will need to be built back up for future needs. Please consider a donation (email the PDCA treasurer for details) and be watching in Pug Talk magazine for some new fund raising opportunities.

A big note of thanks to all past, present and future supporters of Pug health. The battles are far from over, but we have some compassionate, dedicated people in our breed and we are hopeful for a successful bid to eradicate PDE.
